The FIRE SPRINKLER INSTALLATION FOREMAN is to deliver quality products and services which meet or exceeds the customer’s and industry standards, and to achieve customer satisfaction through a unified commitment to job competency and unsurpassed service.

Directly Reports to: General Manager – Sprinkler Division

Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform routine service and maintenance of fire sprinkler/standpipe systems and related equipment.
  • Perform flow tests, fire pump tests, hydrostatic tests, main drain tests, trip test dry valves, and test hydrants.
  • Operate Rigid power machine and to thread and groove pipe as well as proper head spacing.
  • Accurately complete and return all field paperwork on time.
  • Be available for off-hour emergency service calls and the on-call schedule assigned.
  • Report all accidents, mishaps and/or customer complaints immediately.
  • Interface with customers to explain work to be performed, answer their questions and address their concerns in a knowledgeable and respectful manner.
  • Provide accurate and complete information on reports
  • Manage time including time on the job as well as time on road to job sites.

Experience:

  • Required: 5 years related experience
  • OSHA Safety Training (Preferred)

Licensing:

  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required
  • NC Backflow Preventer Certification (Preferred)

  • Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours) without a break.
  • Position requires bending, twisting, stooping, climbing.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
  • Position requires pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally.
  • May be exposed to temperature changes, heights, small spaces and confined spaces.

Fire Sprinkler Inspector

Perform assigned tasks on Fire Sprinkler Systems including, but not limited to, the visual inspection and functional testing of fire sprinkler systems, risers, standpipe systems. Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all tests performed. Experience in fire sprinkler inspection and testing is required. Basic knowledge of fire sprinkler system layout requirements is also preferred.

Responsibilities will include providing inspection, testing, and preventive maintenance services for fire sprinkler equipment to comply with NFPA25 Standards as well as national, state and local codes.

*Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience*

  • Minimum 2 years of experience performing fire sprinkler inspection, testing and maintenance services.
  • Must have a working knowledge of sprinkler controls, alarm panels, devices, and critical components.
  • Must have a current license in the State of North Carolina as a Fire Sprinkler Inspection Technician or Inspection Contractor. Preference will be given to NICET Level II or above Certification in Sprinkler Inspection and Testing. Consideration will be given if a candidate is pursuing NICET Level II or above Certification while maintaining an NC Inspections Technician license.
  • Additional requirements:
  • Must have a working knowledge of Wet, Dry, Preaction and Deluge Sprinkler Systems. Knowledge of design and layout requirements for fire sprinkler systems is desirable.
  • Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Individual must possess a valid Driver’s license in good standing
  • Individual must be at least 21 years of age
  • Fire pump inspection and testing experience highly desired.

Charlotte area fire protection company is now seeking full-time fire sprinkler fitters. As a full-time fire sprinkler fitter, you will work on one or more fire sprinkler projects around the Carolinas. Please read job description fully.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • arrive promptly for work at assigned site
  • be flexible on schedule (evening and weekend work will sometimes be required)
  • read and install residential and commercial systems according to prints
  • coordinate with other trades and construction schedules
  • interpret and apply NFPA codes
  • train apprentices in trade skills and company policies

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a fire sprinkler fitter
  • Ability to read complex building plans and install systems with minimal supervision
  • Strong work ethic
  • Eagerness to teach and lead by example, as well as to learn new skills and new technology
  • Excellent communication, team work and time management skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to/from the job site
  • Your own hand tools and PPE (we will supply all power tools and pipe machine)

Must have experience in

  • steel cutting/threading/grooving;
  • commercial new construction
  • commercial tenant improvements / remodels

Strong candidates will have their journeyman certification as a sprinkler pipe fitter, but that this is not required to apply.
